Privacy Policy
SendToDesk is built with a privacy-first approach. Your files stay on your devices. This policy covers the Android app, the Windows/macOS desktop apps, and this website.
1. Local Network Transfer (No Cloud Storage)
SendToDesk transfers your photos, videos, documents, and scanned files directly between your phone and your computer over your local network (LAN/Wi-Fi). We do not upload, store, or collect your files on any remote servers. We do not have access to your personal files, and they are never shared with third parties.
2. On-Device AI Processing (Google ML Kit)
Our app features advanced tools like Passport Photo Background Removal, Face Detection, and QR/Barcode scanning. All of these features are powered by Google ML Kit and are processed 100% locally on your device. Your photos and camera feed are never sent to the cloud for processing.
3. Camera, Storage, and Permissions
- Camera: Used strictly for scanning QR codes to pair devices, scanning documents, and capturing passport photos.
- Storage/Media: Used only to allow you to select files, photos, or videos you wish to transfer, and to save received files.
- Network/Wi-Fi: Used to discover and pair with the SendToDesk Desktop app on your local network.
- Foreground Service: Used to ensure file transfers are not interrupted when the app is in the background.
4. Advertising and Analytics (Android Only)
While we do not collect your personal files, the Android app uses Google AdMob to display advertisements (banner, native, interstitial, and app-open). To serve these ads and monitor app performance, Google AdMob may automatically collect certain data:
- Device or other IDs: Used for advertising, marketing, and analytics.
- App info and performance: Crash logs and diagnostic data used to improve app stability.
This data collection is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. You can manage your ad preferences through your device settings. Note: The Windows and macOS desktop apps do not contain ads and do not collect this data.
5. Information Stored Locally
The apps may store the following on your device's local storage:
- Scanned PDFs and passport photos you save.
- A history of recently transferred files.
- Pairing details for devices you connect on your network.
- App preferences (e.g., theme settings).
You can delete your transfer history or clear the app cache at any time from the app settings.
6. Children's Privacy
SendToDesk is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If we update this policy, we will post the changes on this page and update the effective date above.
